Missing My Chance

I am quite frustrated, because my dad has an opportunity to get free tickets to the Phillies game on Saturday. But it is suppose to be raining and extremely cold. So of course my mother doesn't want to go. But still, turning down these tickets, which happen to be row 8 behind the away dugout, would be wrong. One, the theory that we would get another set of tickets that are this good, later in the post season, is full of holes, because we don't know how long the Rocks will stay in the playoffs, and we don't know if we can get tickets. Two, my dad has already turned down tickets directly behind home plate, for the Dodger series back in September, because it was "back to school night." Three, just because it is cold, doesn't mean that we shouldn't go. It is a MLB playoff game, there will still be plenty of people there, and how many chances are we going to have to see a game like this. It would be good for me to see, firsthand how the majors play in a pressure situation so that I could try to imitate that in my games. As I conclude, I will recap, I have a chance to go to the Phillies game on Saturday, and there is a possibility I won't get to go because it will be cold. I do not care about the weather, I will wear four shirts if I have to, but I want to go to that game!

The Dark Horse

Brad Hawpe, the Rocks faithful right fielder with a rocket arm. I believe that he could be a force to recon with, and now that the Rocks are in the playoffs, he is needed. I have seen what he is capable of. He may have been in a slump for most of September, but he has been consistant ever sconce he came to the team. This is a proven fact because if he wasn't he would have been traded long ago. He is the dark horse of the Rocks line up. Most of the teams they face will over look him, a mistake. He has the power and influence to make an big impact when it is needed. He can hit homers; he can make clutch plays, but in the post season teams only look at batting avg. But just because he isn't batting .350 doesn't mean he isn't dangerous. I am making the prediction that Brad Hawpe will be a deciding factor in Rocktober 2009, or he will at least make a splash.

Golden Sombrero

On Thursday, against the Brewers, Brad Hawp scored a "golden sombrero." I researched this and found out that a golden sombrero is coined from a hat trick in hockey, but because it takes four strike outs to achieve this prestigious award, it had to be a bigger hat. Thus it is a sombrero. Although it confused me because a at trick is good, and 4 strike outs is pretty bad. I also discovered that 5 strike outs is a platinum sombrero, 6 strike outs is a titanium sombrero, and no one has ever struck out 7 times in one game. But there was one AAA game that lasted 33 innings, and a man struck out 8 times, such a tremendous feet that there is no name for it. So now I look for people who achieve a golden sombrero. I was very pleased when in the first game in the last series with the Dodgers, not just one man, but two, including Manny. I was so happy, but the Rocks couldn’t pull off the division. At least we are in the playoffs, and we learned what a golden sombrero is.

Rocktober!!

The Rocks are officially in the playoffs, and only two games behind the Dodgers in the race to win the division. The Rocks didn't just squeak in to the post season this year, no they came in with a bang and blew the Brewers out of the water. Now they have momentum coming in to the series with the Dodgers, and if they sweep L.A. and Philly looses one game, then the Rocks will win the division. The stars are also falling in line for Jim Tracy, who is bound to be manager of the year this year. It looks to be a great October again!
